Microsoft Systems Administrator
Are you a Systems Administrator with experience supporting Microsoft 365 and on-premises services? Are you a motivated, creative IT professional excited about the opportunity to move into Microsoft 365 administration? The University of Vermont (UVM) is looking for someone to join our team to help us provide robust communications and collaboration solutions to our vibrant university community.
As part of the Collaboration Services team, you will help deliver Microsoft 365 services including Teams, OneDrive, Exchange, and SharePoint to faculty, students, and staff. You’ll also help support critical on-premises services including Active Directory, AD FS, and Windows file services, including staying abreast of emerging security concerns. Whenever possible, you’ll use automation and scripting to manage resources effectively.
The University of Vermont, established in 1791, is located 90 miles south of Montreal between the Adirondack and Green Mountains on the shores of Lake Champlain. Burlington, Vermont, a city of 50,000, is consistently recognized for its quality of life, from four season outdoor recreation to cultural events. Given the occasional hands-on nature of supporting hardware, we desire candidates who can come to our Burlington campus when needed.
UVM is a comprehensive research university comprising eight schools and colleges, and offers its employees competitive salaries, outstanding benefits including tuition remission, and a superior academic workplace.
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in technology related field, or equivalent experience. Expertise with Microsoft operating systems, including Windows Server editions. Experience administering Office 365 services and configuration. Excellent customer service experience. Effective written and verbal communication skills and ability to work collaboratively. Ability to maintain focus and professionalism under pressure.
Any of the following qualifications would strengthen your candidacy:
Experience with Windows scripting and automation tools, ideally PowerShell. VMware vSphere expertise. Knowledge of Microsoft Azure services. Experience with Active Directory and Group Policy. Excellent troubleshooting skills, including system and network debugging experience. Expertise with Exchange, SharePoint, traditional file and print services, or related technologies. If the applicant pool does not have sufficient candidates who meet all the qualifications, UVM will consider early career IT professionals who require training.
