Assistant Professor, Curriculum and Instruction
The University of Northern Iowa’s College of Education- Department of Curriculum and Instruction is seeking a tenure-track Assistant Professor in the division of Elementary Education. The divison Elementary Education in the department of Curriculum and Instruction offers doctoral, masters, and undergraduate education programs. The responsibilities of this position include teaching elementary education courses, both at graduate and undergraduate levels; scholarly research and publication; providing leadership for the Elementary Division; advising graduate students; supervising field experiences; collaborating with schools; and participating in institutional initiatives directed toward excellence in Teacher Education. The successful candidate must be able to teach in one or more of the following areas: curriculum theory and development, social studies, science, or arts-integration methods, classroom management, or general elementary curriculum, including online courses. The division is seeking candidates who are accepting and affirming of all people and who have experience in methods of instruction in cultural competency, diversity inclusion, or multicultural education. Successful candidates for the position should also have experience in technology usage and pedagogy.

Earned doctorate in elementary curriculum and instruction or related field. ABDs in elementary curriculum and instruction or related field will be considered with evidence of degree completion by August 2019.
Required qualifications include at least three years of successful full-time teaching experience as an elementary teacher in grades K-6 in the United States, Canada, or an American-affiliated school abroad and an evidence of or demonstrated potential for scholarly research and professional service.
Preference will be given to candidates with demonstrated evidence of scholarly research and professional service; prior university teaching experience; elementary teaching certification (current or expired); expertise in multiple facets of elementary education; teaching award or other evidence of excellence in teaching; experience supervising students field experiences; undergraduate student research advisement and collaborative research experience; collaboration experience between a university and public schools; knowledge of educational instructional technology in the elementary curriculum and/or experience with online or blended teaching and learning; and prior experience in leadership roles in education.
