Treasury Operations has overall responsibility for administering and overseeing University banking, cash management and investment services.
The Financial Analyst will perform a broad range of accounting and financial responsibilities to assure effective and compliant organizational/department/unit operations related to banking and investment services.
Key Areas of Responsibility Include:
- Serve as primary customer service liaison to University of Iowa departments for banking services and provide information and guidance to departmental staff.
- Administer, monitor and report user access to bank systems. Document and manage user access to institutional bank and investment accounts. Conduct periodic audit of user access. Evaluate authorizations for appropriateness and assess internal controls.
- Manage receipt and documentation of investment management reports.
- Validate investment management fees.
- Coordinate daily operations of banking services programs, including merchant card services, eDeposit, and SMART, to enable accurate and efficient processes.
- Gather information for recurring or non-routine financial reporting to internal management and external agencies. Complete recurring reconciliations and monitor account expenditures.
- Monitor and reconcile investment activity between external statements, internal subsidiary ledgers, and University accounting systems.
- Assist in the accurate and timely preparation of financial and audit reports.
- Assist in daily cash management functions: review and validate financial activity, calculate available balances, recommend bank transfers for funding or investment.
- Compile investment and bank data from internal and external sources for analysis and presentation purposes.
- Maintain documentation of financial/bank service agreements and authorized signers on University bank and investment accounts. Update authorized signers as appropriate.
- Maintain documentation of compliance with Payment Card Industry standards.
- General administrative duties, including initiation of payments and routine departmental tasks as assigned.
- Advise institutional units. Provide training, recommend and assist in developing training solutions. May provide functional and or administrative supervision to students and/or staff to achieve outcomes.
- Maintain effective working relationships with staff, students, third-parties, and the public.

Education Requirement
A Bachelor's degree in Business Administration or related field or an equivalent combination of education and experience
Experience Required
- One-three years financial, banking or other related experience;
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills;
- Customer service experience;
- Demonstrated competence, analytical skills and report presentation using MS Excel spreadsheet software or other similar software;
- Demonstrated logic, reasoning, and problem-solving skills, specifically the ability to identify opportunities for operational improvement and implementing effective changes to processes;
- Ability to accomplish daily tasks with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail.
- Some knowledge of bank processes and credit card acceptance;
- Some knowledge of relevant University systems, policies and procedures;
- Experience working collaboratively on projects;
- Experience compiling and analyzing large data sets;
- Ability to prioritize and coordinate multiple duties.
