Proteomics & Metabolomics Facility Scientist

The University of Connecticut Health Center and the Center for Open Research Resources and Equipment (COR²E, https://core.uconn.edu) are seeking an experienced Ph.D. level scientist (non- tenure track) to support operations of a new mass spectrometry laboratory located on the Farmington medical campus as part of the growing UConn Proteomics & Metabolomics Facility (PMF, https://proteomics.uconn.edu). PMF provides fully customized proteomic and metabolic analyses for over 200 internal and external investigators. 

Specific duties and responsibilities include:

Reporting to the PMF Director, this position will provide consultation to PMF users and execute routine label-free and label-based quantitative proteomics analysis using advanced mass spectrometry instrumentation and leading bioinformatics software. 

Minimum Qualifications include:

  1. Ph.D. in a relevant field
  2. At least 3 years of experience with sample preparation techniques relevant to bottom-up proteomics implementing high resolution mass spectrometry for the analysis of proteins and peptides, plus extensive familiarity with operation, maintaining, and troubleshooting high resolution mass spectrometer and nanoflow ultra-high performance liquid chromatography systems
  3. Proficiency using common proteomics software platforms for peptide/protein identification and quantitation implementing various analytical methods (e.g. Data-Dependent Acquisition, Data-Independent Acquisition, targeted mass spectrometry-based assays).

Preferred Qualifications include:

  1. Experience with Orbitrap or Bruker TOF instrumentation.
  2. Experience with metabolomic analysis
