Financial Systems Analyst
The Financial Systems Analyst in Accounting & Financial Reporting (AFR) will perform a broad range of duties to support existing and creating new General Ledger-related transactional and reporting applications used by all campus departments and central accounting units, as well as supporting various accounting-related processes for the department.
Duties to include:
- Provide front-line support of General Ledger (GL) operational transaction and reporting applications used by campus financial customers. Monitor & respond to questions, research & resolve errors; maintain user manuals; educate users; verify & reconcile sub-system data to GL.
- Monitor and verify UI feeder system journals are submitted to the GL on a daily and monthly basis. Includes identifying issues, communicating to management and technical staff, reconciling and resolving issues.
- Oversee processes for monthly generation and data verification to produce and distribute standard electronic transactional and summary reports to UI campus financial users.
- Complete UI GL month end and fiscal year end close processes, following established procedures. Includes identifying, communicating about & resolving issues and verifying data.
- Complete other tasks as assigned, including completing campus requests for financial account closures and accounting chartfield maintenance; salary suspense processing; AFR website maintenance.
- Serve as a project team member to develop specifications and recommend enhancements to existing financial applications that includes providing user support; testing, educating users, tracking user reported issues; development of training materials for internal and end user usage.
- May serve as a project team member to develop specifications to create new financial applications based on collecting information and analyzing user needs. Includes providing user support, testing; educating users, tracking user reported issues; development of training materials for internal and end user usage.
- Participate in annual PeopleSoft Financials General Ledger module testing and integration with other PeopleSoft Financials modules.

Required Qualifications:
- A Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, Computer Science, or an equivalent combination of education and related experience.
- Typically 1 to 3 years business analysis or process improvement experience.
- Demonstrated excellent written and verbal communications skills, including the ability to communicate effectively with technical and non-technical staff.
- Experience with successfully planning and managing multiple projects/tasks to meet deadlines with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail while using good time management skills.
- Demonstrated strong critical thinking, problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Experience with establishing productive working relationships in a team environment while also possessing the ability to work independently and be a self-starter.
- Demonstrated excellence in providing customer service, with a focus on process improvement.
- Demonstrated proficiency in using and applying computer software applications including Excel, Access or a comparable relational database and Word.
- Experience gathering data and using analysis tools to manipulate information from a variety of sources to perform a task based on established processes and procedures.
Desired Qualifications:
- Experience with PeopleSoft Financials or an automated accounting or financial system.
- Working knowledge University policies or similar knowledge in a higher education setting.
- Experience developing and maintaining end user testing.
- Experience creating training materials.
