Financial Systems Analysis Coordinator
The University of Iowa Accounting & Financial Reporting (AFR) department is seeking a Financial Systems Analysis Coordinator. This position will be a member of the Financial Systems team and will perform a broad range of duties to support the University’s General Ledger transactional and reporting systems and tools for campus-wide accounting usage.
Responsibilities include:
- Assist in supporting General Ledger (GL) operational transaction and reporting applications used by campus financial customers. Provide initial user support to monitor & respond to questions, research & resolve errors and maintain existing user manuals.
- Verify UI feeder system journals are submitted to the GL on a daily and monthly basis. Includes identifying issues, communicating to management and assisting with resolution.
- Generate & verify monthly standard GL Transaction Detail Reports prior to campus-wide distribution.
- Assist with UI GL month and year end close processes, following established procedures. Includes identifying & resolving issues and verifying data.
- Complete other tasks as assigned, including: completing campus requests for financial account closures and accounting chartfield maintenance; salary suspense processing; AFR website maintenance.
- May serve as a project team member participant to assist with developing specifications for enhancements to existing financial applications that includes providing initial user support; testing; tracking user reported issues; development of training materials for internal and end user usage.
- May serve as a project team member to assist with developing specifications to create new financial applications based on collecting and analyzing user needs. Includes providing initial user support; testing; development of training materials for internal and end user usage.
- Participate in annual PeopleSoft Financials General Ledger module testing and integration with other PeopleSoft Financials modules.

Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, Computer Science or an equivalent combination of education and related experience. Includes significant undergraduate coursework in business or computer science and work or internship experience equivalent to four years is acceptable.
- Excellent written and verbal communications skills.
- Ability to successfully manage multiple tasks and to meet deadlines with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail while using good time management skills.
- Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to establish productive working relationships in a team environment while also possessing the ability to work independently and be a self-starter.

- Working knowledge of data gathering and using analysis tools to manipulate information from a variety of sources to perform tasks based on established processes and procedures.
- Working knowledge of automated accounting or financial systems.
- Working knowledge of University policies or similar knowledge in a higher educational setting.
- Experience with process or system design, testing and user support of a financial system.
