Safety and Loss Control Coordinator

Stearns Electric Association, a member-owned electric distribution cooperative serving over 27,000 member-consumers in the Central Minnesota area, is seeking a full time Safety and Loss Control Coordinator to lead its safety program as it relates to employees, member-consumers and the general public.
The Safety and Loss Control Coordinator administers and coordinates the overall safety program of the Cooperative promoting a positive safety culture. This position serves as a safety professional of the Cooperative, placing strong emphasis on managing safety training and development of employees. A significant portion of this position will be administrative with a focus on compliance with federal, state and local safety regulations, safety procedures and policies, as well as overseeing workers' compensation and property damage/public liability insurance claims. The position will monitor and administer our personal protective equipment (PPE) inspection and testing program and work closely with the safety of our electrical line personnel, our facilities, fleet, office personnel and the public. The position will be an integral part of the Cooperative's emergency response team.
Candidates must be self-motivated, approachable, detail oriented and highly organized with strong oral and written communication skills. This is a full-time, exempt position working Monday-Friday during core business hours with occasional after-hours work expected to perform Cooperative safety outreach. The position will report to our Melrose office.
A minimum of associate degree with previous safety and compliance experience in an industrial operation or maintenance work environment is required; however, candidates with significant experience in lieu of education requirement may be considered. Knowledge of an electric distribution system and electrical industry requirements and standards is preferred, but not required. A valid Minnesota Class D driver's license is required.
