South Granville Water And Sewer Authority (SGWASA) is a unit of local government operating a water and sewer system located in southern Granville County.

We are is looking to fill the following positions:

  • Water and Sewer Authority Lead - The desired applicant will be responsible for supervising the total operation of the water treatment plant for the Authority. Work involves supervision over laboratory, maintenance, and operational staff, purchasing parts and supplies, distributing and reviewing work, and personnel management duties including hiring, performance evaluation, coaching, and safety.  As well as, assisting the Chief Plant Operator as backup ORC, the employee is responsible to the State and EPA for compliance with rules and regulations. 
  • Water Plant Operator - The desired applicant will operate the treatment plant on their assigned shift. Work involves performing routine laboratory test, performing routine maintenance, monitoring the water system and making adjustments to pumps to ensure that water quality and water quantity complies with rules and regulations as set forth by SGWASA, the State and EPA.

  • Public Utility Superintendent - The desired applicant is responsible for planning, organizing, and supervising crews engaged in a variety of work associated with providing water distribution and sewer collection services to citizens. Work includes the construction, maintenance and repair of water and sewer lines, pump stations, hydrants, meters and valves, and unstopping sewer lines. Employee serves as ORC for the collection system, the distribution system and the cross-connection program. Work also includes managing the utility division budget; planning work projects based on service extension needs, maintenance, and emergency needs; coordinating work with property owners; assigning crews to projects; inspecting work in progress and upon completion; answering and resolving public complaints; and managing all line maintenance contracts.

  • Public Utility Supervisor - An employee in this class assists the Utility Construction Superintendent in planning, organizing, and supervising crews engaged in a variety of work associated with providing water distribution and sewer collection services to citizens. An employee in this class also performs a variety of equipment operation tasks in the construction, maintenance, and repair of utility lines and appurtenances and serves as a crew leader on work sites.  Employee serves as back-up ORC for the collection system, the distribution system and the cross-connection program. Work also includes managing the Utility Construction Division Budget; planning work projects based on service extension needs, maintenance, and emergency needs; coordinating work with property owners; assigning crews to projects; inspecting work in progress and upon completion; answering and resolving public complaints; and managing all line maintenance contracts.
