Director of Membership
Job Title: Director of Membership
Immediate Supervisor: President, Shoals Chamber of Commerce (Caitlin Holland)
General Description: This sales position is responsible for both membership recruitment and retention through relationship building and management.
Essential Job Duties:
- Use CRM database to mine, prospect, and identify upsell existing members;
- Prospect and identify new businesses;
- Reach out to potential and existing members via telephone, email, networking events, drop-ins, etc.;
- Set up and perform sales meetings;
- Generate revenue from new and existing members;
- Maintain and foster deeper relationships with members;
- Meet metrics by demonstrating a high level of organizational knowledge and meeting specific membership recruitment and retention goals;
- Assume responsibility for managing and updating computerized membership database, application paperwork, and follow-up documentation;
- Maintain accurate knowledge of Chamber programs, applicable programs related to economic and/or business development, and peer institutions' offerings;
- Maintain contact with business community, as necessary;
- Work effectively with coworkers to ensure each members' experience with the Shoals Chamber is professional, service-focused, and productive;
- Perform all other duties as assigned.

- Extremely organized and detail oriented, Very strong multi-tasking and administrative skills;
- Ability to leverage technologies to utilize data, invoicing, basic accounting, and marketing tools;
- Extremely strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication and sales skills;
- Self-starter, independent and proactive employee with a passion to help members;
- Strong time management skills and process-oriented mindset;
- Coachable personality that seeks feedback and to improve and is a team player;
- Desire to grow professionally and contribute to our mission;
- Previous knowledge or ability to quickly learn technology-based data, accounting, and marketing tools and software;
- Ability to work a flexible schedule, based on fluctuating activity needs identified by the Shoals Chamber.
Education and Experience: Bachelor's degree or equivalent and a background in professional sales is required.
