Surveyor

In this role, the Surveyor’s data, analysis and reporting will help determine how and where our system is built. Our successful employees ensure that our customers and communities have the power they need for modern life.
While few days will ever look similar in a Surveyor’s career, examples of those activities will include:
* Obtain survey data for a variety of needs including utility mapping, GIS, substations, volume surveys, hydroelectric dam monitoring, and easement and boundary determination
* Create preliminary and final design of power lines, overhead and underground, following guidelines of construction standards, engineering, and construction manuals
* Develop drawings for design, construction, easements, boundaries, volume calculations, highway and railroad crossing permits or other documents as requested
* Review and revise easements and legal descriptions from the Land Rights department prior to recording
* Prepare and complete records of real property plats and certificate of surveys in accordance with state statutes
* Overnight travel within Otter Tail Power’s service industry will be required and can vary from 1-10 days per month
Qualifications:
We’re seeking candidates with a wide range of skills who are motivated to deeply understand complex information and effectively communicate their findings while aligning with our core values: Integrity, Community, Safety, Resourcefulness, Customer Service and People. * We have a lot to accomplish so top candidates will be able to independently direct and manage their time and responsibilities. Balancing many projects or initiatives will be necessary to succeed.
* An independent thinker who is excited and driven to solve problems in creative ways
* Associate degree in civil engineering and surveying or 5 years of related experience is preferred
* A working knowledge of Autodesk Civil 3D software, the Microsoft suite, survey equipment, utility and topographical maps are preferred so that you can hit the ground running.
* Valid driver’s license required
