ABOUT THE CAMPAIGN FINANCE BOARD
The New York City campaign Finance Board is a nonpartisan, independent city agency that enhances the role of New York City residents in elections. We are dedicated to making our local democracy more open, transparent, and equitable. We eliminate barriers to participation by providing access to the information and resources New Yorkers need to vote or run for office and reduce the corrupting influence of money in politics by enhancing the impact of New Yorkers’ small-dollar contributions. ABOUT THE UNIT/DEPARTMENT
NYC Votes is an initiative of the New York City Campaign Finance Board (CFB), a nonpartisan, independent agency, that aims to inform New Yorkers about elections and boost their civic participation in the democratic process. The NYC Votes Partnership and Outreach team works to build partnerships across the city to disseminate information and conduct direct to voter outreach.
The team is seeking a Voting Rights and Accessibility Coordinator. This new role will play a critical role in enhancing the relevance and expanding the reach of educational resources and materials to those facing physical and systemic barriers to voting, specifically to those currently or formerly incarcerated and voters with disabilities.
The Voting Rights and Accessibility Coordinator will work closely with the Senior Partnerships Manager on the Partnerships and Outreach team to identify and forge relationships with community leaders, advocacy groups, CBOs, government agencies, and other key stakeholders to understand, track, and meet community needs through education delivery, the provision of relevant and accessible resources and materials, program and event execution, among other engagement and education approaches. The Voting Rights and Accessibility Coordinator will also work closely with Public Affairs staff to assist in the overall development of resources and materials and coordination of services.
We are looking for someone energized about on-the-ground community engagement with strong emotional intelligence and interpersonal skills. We seek to work with someone passionate about making the voting process inclusive for those most marginalized in our society. Ideally, this candidate is aware or interested in deepening their understanding of how racism, ableism, classism or other oppressions show up in the voting process.

- Work with Senior Partnerships Manager to identify new and existing partners and develop an outreach plan to reach New Yorkers that face physical and systemic barriers to voting, specifically to those currently or formerly incarcerated and voters with disabilities.
- Serve as the primary liaison between partner organizations and the Campaign Finance Board (CFB) as it relates to delivering requested resources and materials, scheduling and delivering educational sessions, conducting follow up, etc.
Educational Training and Workshop Development and Delivery
- In coordination with partners, curate and deliver accessible and relevant training and educational presentations and workshops on voting rights, voting process, elections, and civic engagement
- Create experiential engagement programming and other creative forms of community engagement
- If safe, travel to sites across the city to meet deliver trainings, meet with community stakeholders, and serve as a source of credible information for communities across NYC
- Develop various methods to collect and incorporate audience feedback
- Work with Language Access Manager to support content creation by elevating needs of communities understood through research and field work
- Work with Marketing and Communications team to update trainings and resources to ensure they are up-to-date with election information and tailored to specific audience needs
Data Management and Evaluation
- Work with Senior Partnerships Manager to maintain consistent tracking of partner data, including contact information, meeting notes, organizational tags, listserv maintenance, etc.
- Work with Senior Partnerships Manager to develop metrics and measures of success for education delivery; create reports and tools to assess impact
- Support the development and maintenance of internal team structure, including identifying areas of improvement, creating processes for coordinating, and generally helping to keep things organized

- Strong communicator and collaborator who can adapt to a variety or work styles and synthesize feedback from multiple stakeholders.
- Demonstrated ability to research and propose new approaches and think creatively and flexibly about how to meet diverse audience needs.
- Minimum 2 years’ experience in outreach or community engagement work, voting and civic engagement work is preferred.
- Experience organizing or facilitating presentations and workshops for diverse audiences
- Experience working with Microsoft Office Suite (e.g., Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Publisher) and Google Suite.
- Willingness to travel independently to deliver presentations, participate in speaking engagements, etc. sometimes outside of regular working hours. Occasionally, travel to areas in which public transportation may not be available.
- Experience working with diverse communities, particularly people with disabilities and formerly incarcerated persons.
- Existing relationships in the civic space, including with coalitions, community organizing groups, and partner organizations
- Existing engagement in the New York City community, including local businesses, libraries, advocacy or volunteer groups, etc.
- Ability to understand and communicate in one or more of the following languages: Arabic, American Sign Language (ASL), Bengali, Cantonese, Haitian Creole, Hindi, Korean, Mandarin, Polish, Punjabi, Spanish, Russian, or Urdu.
