Facility Maintenance Technician - Plumber/Pipefitter
The Facilities Maintenance Technician - Plumber/Pipefitter will perform highly skilled maintenance, repairs, replacements, and new installations for the plumbing and mechanical piping systems within the Campus Enterprises division areas of NC State University.
The Facilities Maintenance Technician - Plumber/Pipefitter needs to be familiar with all aspects of commercial, institutional, and industrial plumbing methods and understand construction installation work, but not be limited to the following, utility and piping systems, fixture installation, steam systems and components, pumps, heat exchangers and controls, hot water heaters, and condensate pumps.
Minimum Experience / Education:
• High school diploma or equivalency; or demonstrated possession of the competencies necessary to perform the work. Some positions may require special licenses or certification(s).
• Optional Guidelines: Experience in the trade(s) areas related to the area of assignment may be substituted on a year-for-year basis.

Preferred Qualifications:
- Technical or vocational school in plumbing, pipefitting, mechanical or building trades.
- Three (3) years experience in a variety of commercial maintenance responsibilities.
- Considerable knowledge of plumbing, and pipefitting work.
- Licensure in plumbing.
- Sound working knowledge of plumbing and pipefitting systems in the commercial and institutional areas.
- Proficient with maintenance, preventative maintenance, and installations for new and replacements using the proper procedures to safely isolate and lock out systems related to work identified.
- Evaluate multiple systems, identify issues, recommend and provide solutions while addressing concerns in a timely manner.
Required License or Certification:
- Valid NC Driver’s License or ability to obtain one within 60 days
