NC State University in Raleigh, NC seeks an Assistant Professor to Teach NE 528: Introduction to Plasma Physics & Fusion Energy; & NE 228:  Introduction to Fusion Energy. Conduct research & teach graduate courses in areas of plasma physics & fusion science. Prepare & submit grant proposals for external funding to government agencies, national laboratories, international agencies, & research institutions. May be able to work from home on occasion with supervisor approval, but some in-person work on a regular weekly basis is required.

Requires a PhD in Nuclear Engineering, Physics or related field with 3 yrs. of exp. as a Staff Physicist, Associate Research Scholar, or any other position in which required exp. was gained. Must have demonstrated exp. with: managing a topological scientific group, holding regular meetings, reviewing draft conference abstracts & manuscripts & developing research plans at national fusion user facility; proposing & executing experiments at national or international magnetic confinement fusion facilities; design & implementation of tokamak plasma edge diagnostics, including ultrahigh vacuum systems, optical systems, electronics & data processing; strong involvement in international fusion community, as demonstrated by expert membership in International Tokamak Physics Activity (ITPA), or similar international topological expert groups; & impactful scholarly research, reviewer service, & funding in plasma physics & fusion fields, as demonstrated by at least 12 peer-reviewed journal articles, multiple highlighted publications, & multiple grant proposals to funding agencies.
