Consumer Protection Officer
The position of Consumer Protection Officer is currently available at the North Carolina Real Estate Commission office in Raleigh.
Salary Hiring Range: $47,512 - $57,014
DUTIES: Responds to complaints from the public relating to real estate brokerage; reviews
complaint information received and determines need and sources for additional
data; gathers data from licensees, sellers, buyers, witnesses, court records, etc.
through written and telephone inquiries; analyzes documentary evidence in order
to determine the facts concerning complaints.
Prepares and delivers speeches to industry groups and the public across the state
about the Real Estate License Law, Commission rules and real estate brokerage
practices.
Determines whether facts of case are sufficient to support a violation. Summarizes
case facts and recommends case disposition to the Attorney/Case Manager,
whether to close the file or pursue a potential violation; conducts additional research
and data gathering as directed.
Maintains required knowledge of Real Estate License Law, Commission rules and
policy changes, and department protocols and case precedents.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor's degree; a NC Real Estate License and at least one year of experience
in general real estate brokerage; or an equivalent combination of education and
experience. Possession of a NC Broker’s license. Possession of a valid Driver
License without restrictions.
