Medical Laboratory Technician
Salary Range: $31,200.00 - $48,058.00 Annually
Location: Wake County
The N.C. Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services provide services that promote and improve agriculture, agribusiness and forests; protect consumers and businesses; and conserve farmland and natural resources for the prosperity of all North Carolinians. The Department employs approximately 2000 employees.
Duties involve processing samples received for bacteriology testing, performing parasitology examinations by various test procedures, computer entry of bacteriology laboratory test results, restocking laboratory supplies and performing quality control activities.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities / Competencies
General knowledge of the variety of laboratory procedures.
Ability to use laboratory equipment.
Ability to communicate effectively.
Ability to make accurate observations and written reports of findings.
Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions.
PREFERENCES:
Recent clinical laboratory experience to include microbiology. ASCP certification highly desirable. Experience in the identification of parasites is highly desirable.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
Associate's degree in medical technology from an appropriately accredited institution or completion of a certified laboratory assistant course in medical technology or a comparable course from an accredited institution; or High school or General Educational Development diploma and two years of medical laboratory experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
