PARALEGAL
Legal Aid Service of Broward County, Inc. has an opening for a full time Paralegal. In this position you will be responsible for both substantive and administrative paralegal duties. You will assist the attorneys in advocating for children suspected of having disabilities or who are already identified as having a disability. Serving both community families and children in the foster care system, you will assist the attorneys in accessing appropriate educational services and public benefits for clients. You will also focus on grant compliance.
Substantive Paralegal responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Attending staffings, visiting clients, performing legal research, drafting letters and court pleadings.
Administrative Paralegal responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Inputting staff billable hours and generating monthly invoices by utilizing a web-based data management program, assisting with grant required quarterly outcome reporting, maintaining physical and digital client case files.
The ideal candidate will have either a Paralegal/Legal Studies Degree or Paralegal Certificate with prior experience working in a law office environment. Prior experience and background in social work, education, psychology, the medical field, and/or related services will also be considered. Position requires a willingness to be an advocate for our indigent client population and travel within Broward County. Bilingual applicants preferred.
