The Associate Director of Advancement Business Applications is responsible for the operational areas of Application Support, Application Training and 3rd Party system administration within the JMU division of Advancement. The Assoc. Director will need to have demonstrable experience in system implementation, Software Quality Assurance, In-App documentation & technical writing, training and help desk support. The duties include managing operations with 2 full time staff members and 3 student employees. Additionally, this position will be part of a cross departmental team for QA initiatives related to system changes, upgrades and implementations. The successful candidate will work closely with all members of the staff whose duties include Reporting & Analytics, Business & Data analysis, and Data Acquisitions and Data Quality.

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Manage 2 full time staff members (Application Trainer / 3rd Party system analyst) and 3 part time student employees (performing data quality projects).
  • Provide direct support for the duties of Applications Support.
  • Contribute to the implementation of replacement information systems for the division by testing new functionality and tracking progress using a standard software quality assurance lifecycle.
  • Oversee creation of technical writing and functional help documentation for current and future systems
  • Liaison with IT on support and
  • Collaborate with other members of the larger Advancement Unit (Advancement Information Services)
  • Provide resource assistance to Data Acquisition/Data Quality staff members for data validation and cleanup projects.
  • Provide backup coverage for other team areas as needed.


Required:

  • Three to five years of experience in managing an application support help desk.
  • Software quality assurance and system implementation experience.
  • Experience generating contextualized functional help used in both the application and for training purposes.
  • Ability to perform most duties of those staff members who report to this position.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills.
  • Experience using data access & analysis toolsets to validate data issues and experience creating data quality audit reports.
  • Demonstrable ability to learn new technologies

 

Preferred:

  • Experience in Higher Education Advancement Systems or similar Constituent management systems.
  • Knowledge of Salesforce is desired.
  • Knowledge of email marketing platforms, online giving / crowdfunding platforms.
  • Experience in using reporting tools and/or SQL queries to validate data associated with a business process.
