Francis Marion University invites applications for an Engineer/Associate Engineer who supervises and implements the design, planning, and management of complex engineering, construction, and facilities engineering projects or programs. Manages the implementation and development phases necessary to complete the University facilities construction, renovation, and major maintenance projects. Works with external architects and engineers during design and project administration. Provides leadership and communications for ensuring the efficient operation of maintenance groups. The successful candidate must be customer-oriented and task driven for the safe completion of simple and complicated activities. Performs related duties as directed.
State Requirements: A bachelor’s degree in engineering, architecture or engineering technology and journey-level engineering or architectural work experience. A master’s degree in engineering or architecture and entry-level engineering or architectural work experience may be substituted for the required experience.
FM Preferences: A bachelor’s degree in civil, mechanical, industrial, or electrical engineering and five years related work experience with supervisory responsibility. A master’s degree in engineering may be substituted for the required experience. Must be able to read and interpret plans and specifications, compile specifications, research applicable codes, state and federal laws and regulations and manufacturer’s literature, develop and implement facility programs and manage projects. Must be organized and have the ability to achieve specified goals and objectives by properly managing the efforts of subordinates and associated team members.
