Job Duties:
Responsible for helping build FOX’s next generation Live/VOD solutions across platforms. Use AWS services to help solve complex business requirements. Build highly scalable platforms using AWS technologies and responsible for making data-driven architectural decisions. Specific duties include: 1) Build highly scalable, automated video workflow systems, including architecting and designing VOD and Live video pipelines using AWS technologies such as EC2, S3, Lambda, Gateway, CloudFront/CDNs, DynamoDB, MongoDB; utilize understanding of all aspects of digital video (both VOD and LIVE) and TV Everywhere ecosystem, including video workflows and content lifecycle to develop VOD/Live video workflows; build automated video workflows in the cloud that would substantially automate and help reduce operational expenses for the company; and utilize experience with video formats (H.264/MP4/Transport Streams), encoding and delivery systems to build the Live/VOD video pipelines. 2) Help prototype systems to solve hard technical problems, including quickly prototyping wireframe designs using AWS technologies like EC2, Lambda and programming languages like NodeJS, Python to build the Live/VOD video pipelines; handle vendor/partner evaluations to prototype the Live/VOD video pipelines; help architect and guide other developers to build Live/VOD pipelines; utilize expertise with REST-based Web Services API implementation to build highly scalable Live/VOD video pipelines; evaluate vendor/partner provided systems in order to integrate third party tools into the Live/VOD video pipelines; and develop subcomponents of the Live/VOD video pipelines, as well as document and effectively communicate the design for the Live/VOD video pipelines. 3) Develop, improve and maintain stable infrastructure; develop and maintain existing systems such as content management systems, video platforms and production infrastructure; use experience in CMS and video pipeline systems to help integrate with existing CMS systems; and use debugging skills and solve issues through video pipeline. 4) Act as an AWS expert, as well as design and implement solutions, and drive the adoption of new AWS technologies; quickly learn new technologies from AWS and drive the adoption of these technologies (AWS Elemental tools) into production systems; conduct “hands-on” training sessions to educate technical staff on AWS best practices; educate other members of the group on upcoming new technologies that can be incorporated to help build Live/VOD video pipelines; and use experience with AWS networking and security, managing VPC’s to ensure that secure Live/VOD video pipelines are built. 5) Provide operational support and project management as may be necessary, including provide operational support to testers/NOC operators and help debug issues as and when they arise; and provide support to project management with estimates, guidelines and overall guidance on best practices for handling Live/VOD workflow development projects. 6) Present technical presentations to executives and internal stakeholders; conduct technical sessions; provide basic wire framing and prototyping; and provide technical support to ongoing customer/field issues.
Minimum requirements:
Requires a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field, and five (5) years of software development or related experience architecting, designing and developing digital media or entertainment applications, including programming/scripting experience using Java, OOP, Python and JavaScript.
In lieu of Bachelor’s degree and 5 years of software development or related experience architecting, designing and developing digital media or entertainment applications, including programming/scripting experience using Java, OOP, Python and JavaScript, will accept seven (7) years of software development or related experience architecting, designing and developing digital media or entertainment applications, including programming/scripting experience using Java, OOP, Python and JavaScript.
Experience must include three (3) years of experience with REST-based Web Services API implementation; architecting, designing, and implementing application hosting in AWS Cloud Infrastructure; Linux, Ubuntu/Debian and BASH scripting; and performance tuning and optimizing content delivery network for performance and best user experience.
*Specific skills: Also requires experience or knowledge in the following: 1) Knowledge of digital video ecosystem (both VOD and LIVE), including TV Everywhere, video workflow and content lifecycle; 2) Documenting using UML diagrams; 3) Experience in AWS, EC2, S3, Lambda, Gateway, CloudFront/CDNs, DynamoDB and MongoDB; 4) Experience in Git, SVN, Jenkins, Kubernetes, Docker and Agile methodologies; 5) Experience with video formats, encoding and delivery systems; 6) Experience with AWS networking and security and managing VPCs; and 7) Knowledge of prevailing and emerging consumer internet-related technologies and broadcast systems
