Elon University is seeking a highly motivated individual to serve as Head Sports Performance Coach. The Head Sports Performance coach will work with the Director of Sports Performance to assist with all aspects of the strength and conditioning programs for assigned sports.

Education Requirements |
Master’s degree in a sports performance or related field. 18 months experience (can be gained through internships and practical experience during academic studies).
Required Certifications & Qualifications: required:
· SCCC
· CSCS
· PNI or higher
Preferred Qualifications & Experience:
· FMS
· Previous experience in Division One Athletics with both male and female sports.
· Previous experience with GPS technology.

Position Description
General Purpose of Position |
Coordinate and oversee all conditioning and training for sports teams as assigned. Maintain detailed records for assigned programs and develop annual written programs for student-athletes to follow. Assist with all operational needs and maintenance of facility. Complete other duties that may be assigned.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities |
· Develop and implement men’s and women’s training programs in the weight room for the designated/assigned teams.
· Assess and evaluate proper instruction and supervision of techniques and safety procedures within the designated strength and conditioning programs.
· Design training programs with the goal of increasing the strength of the tendons, ligaments and muscle tissues to prevent injuries during sport season based on various strengthening exercises.
· Assess each student-athlete and develop programs based on the needs of each individual
· Using science-based training methodologies. Develop in conjunction with other sports performance coaches, proper maintenance and care of appropriate equipment, along with records of maintenance.
· Teach and demonstrate movement preparation exercises, strengthening exercises, and develop individualized recovery strategies for each individual student-athlete.
· Provide up-to-date techniques and procedures in the area of movement preparation, conditioning, weight training, and recovery by staying well-informed of current research in strength and conditioning. Involved in continuing education in strength training research though staff meetings and attending conferences and seminars.
· Manage educating student-athletes on the proper diet to maintain a healthy lifestyle and prevent injuries from occurring.
· Collaborate with head sport coaches, of assigned teams, to develop strategic plans to maximize the development of the student-athletes. This includes:
– Scheduling, deciding practice intensity and duration, conditioning plans, and the safeguarding of the student-athletes.
· Responsible for supervising and managing the 1000+ square foot varsity weight room. Responsible for the sports internship program and managing interns, if and when participants are accepted.

Salary: $47,067.00/year
Schedule: 40/week. Flexible schedule based on home and away games, as necessary.
