Infrastructure Cabling Manager
Elon University is currently accepting applications for an Infrastructure Cabling Manager.
Primary responsibilities are centered around structured cabling across campus such as fiber and copper wiring infrastructure to support network switching, campus Wi-Fi, card access, security cameras, fire and elevator alarms and IP telephony.
A bachelor’s degree and a Project Management Certification (PMP) or related discipline plus 5 years of Network/Telecommunications project management required.
The position will remain open until filled.
- Review building floor plans for new construction and renovation projects that will include structured cabling.
- Prepare project scope to include work documents and project plans for complex projects based on input from multiple departments and end users. Critical dates will be jointly agreed upon and tracked with the project plan of the building contractor.
- Manage multiple site projects simultaneously, ensuring thorough preparation, including resources and parts management.
- Manage multiple technicians and vendors to facilitate successful and on-time completion of construction and remodeling activities to include.
- Track all project budgets and advise the university’s network director and CIO of major budget shortfalls due to change of project scope.
- Identify, track, monitor, and communicate project related issues, scope changes, variances, and contingencies that may arise during the implementation of the project. Work with project team members to facilitate amicable solutions when roadblocks occur.
- Oversee OSP cable locating and maintain the campus copper, fiber optic and CATV outside plant map. Update as appropriate and provide updates to the university’s physical plant facilities CAD system.
- Maintain the accuracy of the university’s copper cable plant inventory system.
- Work closely with Learning Space Technology leaders and Planning Design and Construction Office to deliver high quality, affordable solutions.
