Job Duties
The East Carolina University College of Nursing is currently seeking applications for a faculty position in the Masters of Nursing Science (MSN), adult/gerontology clinical nurse specialist concentration. This position would serve as the concentration director of the Adult/Gerontology Clinical Nurse Specialist program.
Candidates may be considered for a 12-month, full-time, fixed-term, tenure-track or tenured position at a title/rank commiserate with education and experiences.
This concentration is taught on-line and in a distance-education environment. Responsibilities may include: teaching courses in the Master’s core and concentration-specific (adult/gerontology clinical nurse specialist) program, academic advising, development and evaluation of relevant courses, coordination and collaboration with clinical practicum preceptors, participation as a full-time faculty member including attendance at faculty meetings and participation in committees/task forces.
Tenure-track and tenured faculty will maintain an active program of research and scholarly activities and may participate in PhD dissertations and/or DNP scholarly projects.
Minimum Education/Experience
All candidates must have clinical experience as a clinical nurse specialist and have national certification as a CNS.
Ideal candidates for tenure-track/tenured positions must hold a PhD in nursing or closely related discipline with a Master’s degree in nursing. Fixed-term faculty must hold at least an MSN in nursing.
Qualifying degrees must be obtained from appropriately accredited institutions.
License or Certification Required by Statute or Regulation
· A valid non-restricted North Carolina nursing license is required upon employment.
· A national certification as a Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS).
Preferred Experience, Skills, Training/Education
· Leadership experience is preferred.
· Five years of clinical experience as a clinical nurse specialist
· Membership in state or national CNS professional organization is preferred.
