Summary of Work:
This full-time teaching position will be responsible for teaching and managing the Corrosion Technology program which will prepare students for entry level employment as Corrosion Technicians in the fields of manufacturing, oil & gas industry, government agencies, pipeline maintenance and general corrosion management. The students will learn in labs and classroom settings while preparing to sit for NACE certification exams. The responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following.
Pilot curriculum using prepared course descriptions, competencies, course outcomes and learning objectives. Prepare for and facilitate learning in the assigned courses according to the College's mission, core themes and values. Establish a professional and safe learning environment. Set the classroom tone by modeling appropriate workplace skills and behavior. Maintain a positive climate for learning by performing classroom management and being aware of, monitoring and enforcing the Student Code of Conduct.
- Conforms to College regulations regarding textbook selection and replacement.
- Meet the student learning needs by meeting classes as scheduled and incorporating a variety of teaching methods and assessments.
- Maintain student records and documentation. Submit grades within the expected timeframe. Provide timely verbal and written feedback to the students to ensure continued growth and development.
- Maintain and budget for equipment and supplies for the classroom and labs, as necessary, to support the assigned program area and future trends in industry. Work with supervisor to identify alternative funding sources as needed.
- Participate in the development, implementation, evaluation and updating of curriculum. Develop and publish syllabi as directed.
- Supervise aides and work-study students.
- Assists the instructional Chair and VP of Academic Affairs in the development of hybrid classes, flexible scheduling and industry recognized credentials.
- Perform academic advising with students regarding course enrollment, program and course content, lifelong learning and other program-related subjects. Work with Student Affairs staff to provide guidance to students related to student success.
- Complies with GFT Master Agreement.
- Collaborate with College staff to recruit and retain students. Assist with student recruitment and retention by participating in College events, partnering with enrollment management and student affairs staff, maintaining relationships with alumni and proactively promoting the College and services offered.
- Work with internal customers, including student services and academic support staff and adjunct faculty to provide consistent, effective learning and support for students. Support the College by staying current with internal and external industry and academic changes. Provide input by participating in College meetings, committees and activities.
- Build and maintain ongoing relationships with community, industry and clinical partners to continuously improve program offerings, remain relevant and increase opportunities for job internships and permanent placement upon program completion.
- Participate in external meetings and activities including a minimum of one advisory committee meeting per school year. Research and implement advisory committee recommendations.
- Actively participate in professional growth activities, such as: networking and sharing with and among faculty across the College, memberships and professional organizations, accepting and incorporating guidance and support from peers and supervisors, staying up-to-date with technology trends, maintaining occupational competence, staying current in the field and creating and maintaining a professional development plan. Assist with mentoring other full-time and adjunct faculty.
- Performs other duties as assigned by the administration if necessary to fulfill the mission and purpose of the College.

Education and Experience:
Minimum Qualifications:
- Associate Degree in a related area or two years higher education from a regionally accredited college or university or
- Five years' experience in increasingly more demanding responsibilities in corrosion control and/or cathodic protection.
- NACE certification
- Industry specific knowledge pertaining directly to subjects assigned and taught
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree from a regionally accredited college or university in a related area
- Experience in teaching related classes
- Upper Level NACE training
- Knowledge and Skills:
Ability to:
- Troubleshoot cathodic protection and coating systems
- Provide technical expertise to teach/assess operating and maintenance issues related to corrosion control
- Identify and mitigate interference issues
- Knowledge of internal corrosion mechanisms and the mitigation of internal corrosion
- Design cathodic protection systems
- Strong organizational and planning skills
- Knowledge of 49CFR Part 192, 195, and related industry standards; DOT and Pipeline safety regulations
- In depth experience in the field of corrosion control
- Working knowledge of chemistry, electricity, physics, metallurgy, coating systems and corrosion control procedures
- Knowledge of pipeline remediation and repair, pressure reductions, coating systems and corrosion controls on pipelines, tanks, etc.
