International Tax Compliance Manager
Position Summary
The Cooper Companies is in search of an International Tax Compliance Manager to support the Corporate Tax Department of a publicly traded international corporation that supplies and services the specialty healthcare industry. This position is responsible for managing all aspects of the company’s international income tax compliance. Responsible for the preparation of Forms 1118, 5471 and 8858 for and related to all relevant affiliated entities. Responsible for computing, maintaining and tracking earnings and profits and foreign taxes pools. Stays abreast of all new and relevant provisions under the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act including managing the company’s Subpart F, GILTI, FDII and BEAT positions.
Essential Job Functions
International Tax Compliance
- Prepare Forms 5471s and 8858s for foreign subsidiaries/branches.
- Prepare necessary disclosures.
- Prepare and/or review Forms 1042 and W-8s, if any.
- Prepare Form 1118 and related computations.
- Assists with the review of the annual and quarterly tax provision related to foreign operations including review of the foreign tax credit calculations.
- Compile data for country-by-country reporting and prepare necessary forms.
- Comply with new U.S. tax reform measures and establish a process for tracking and maintaining all relevant tax attributes.
- Support the preparation and review of calculations and workpapers supporting Form 1120 and any state filings as needed.
- Coordinate with outside advisors to manage proper tax return filings outside the U.S. and to keep track of all returns that have been filed.
- Perform research to support positions taken in the tax returns and prepare required supporting documentation, including memoranda.
- Coordinate with the tax accounting team to ensure efficient integration of the tax accounting and international tax compliance processes.
Audit Defense
- Interface with IRS agents and coordinate, prepare and/or review responses to all Information Document Requests (IDRs) issued to the company.
- Oversee maintenance of detailed logs of all IDR responses and other communications with the IRS.
- Regularly participate in strategy discussions with tax counsel and economists and assist with all necessary internal data gathering and analysis.
- Communicate with foreign controllers/managers to keep apprised of tax audits occurring outside the U.S. and to provide all necessary and possible support from the U.S.
- Keep an updated list of current tax audits worldwide.
Training
- Regularly attend technical issue seminars provided by professional firms.
- Participate in on-line courses and review technical materials to keep up to date on tax and accounting pronouncements.
Position Qualifications
EDUCATION:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field required.
- CPA or Master’s Degree in Tax preferred
EXPERIENCE:
- Minimum of 5 years’ work experience in tax accounting required; 3 years in similar International Tax Compliance Manager role required.
- Must have experience with IRS Form 1118 preparation and foreign tax credit reporting.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS and ABILITIES:
- Intermediate knowledge of U.S. international and foreign tax concepts, including hybrid entities and securities, repatriation strategies, Subpart F, global intangible low-taxed income, foreign tax credits, and holding company and intercompany financing strategies.
- Intermediate knowledge of federal income tax concepts as they apply to international taxes.
- Working knowledge of Onesource income tax software required.
- Highly proficient in MS PowerPoint, Word, and Excel.
- Strong analytic skills and ability to research.
- Excellent written and interpersonal communication skills, including command of English language for reading, writing, and comprehension.
- Ability to prioritize and handle multiple responsibilities, with attention to detail and accuracy.
- Experience in maintaining and managing positive relationships with internal customers and external vendors and consultants.
- Ability to interact across all functions and levels within the company.

This position requires mathematics skills, reading and comprehension skills, and writing skills.
