CommonBond is excited to announce an opening for an Advantage Services Coordinator. This position is full-time (40 hours a week) at a 90 unit family community in Edina, MN. Schedule includes daytime hours, 9am- 5:30pm four days per week and one evening per week until 7pm during the school year.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS AND ASSOCIATED TASKS
- Plan, coordinate, promote and manage the delivery of Advantage Center programs and services provided for the benefit of youth and adults.
- Assess adult, youth and family needs.
- Initiate programs which promote education, employment, home ownership, and asset development.
- Develop and maintain services and programs with community providers.
- Collaborate with other CommonBond Communities staff to meet program needs.
- Maintain records, compile statistics, documentation, and provide information as requested.
- Coordinate volunteer participation in the delivery of programs.
- Solicit regular resident input for program planning.
- Identify and solicit contributions and support from community at large.
Provide professional individual services coordination to meet the needs of residents at select family housing communities
- Respond to referrals for individual services
- Identify and assess individual and family needs
- Provide information, referrals, advocacy and brief counseling
- Work with residents to set goals, develop plans, make referrals and connect with community service providers
- Maintain ongoing communication with the referral source, the resident, other CommonBond Communities staff, and community service providers
- Maintain accurate, timely and detailed documentation on casework in accordance with professional ethics and corporate procedures
- Act as a liaison between community-based social services and housing management staff for the benefit of individual residents
- Act as an advocate for individual residents to assist with efforts to maintain affordable housing
- Produce and annually update a directory of important community services for resident use.
Youth Program Coordination
- Manage youth programs, including individual tutoring, group activities and small group homework assistance.
- For after-school programs:
o Assess youth academic needs, resources and successful program models.
o Participate in on-going efforts to improve programs and respond to changing needs.
o Develop and implement strategies for increasing parent involvement in youth programs and for creating communication between parents and schools via the after-school youth programs.
o Establish and enforce guidelines for student behavior in all areas of youth programs.
o Organize materials needed for all youth activities, including snacks, games, books, software, etc.
o Work in collaboration with the team to plan family events, parental involvement activities, field trips, and other programs as needed. - Data Collection
- Maintain records to reflect daily attendance and program content.
- Produce other program information and grant reports as needed.
- Supervise youth program volunteers, including full-time and short-term AmeriCorps members, teen workers, and community volunteers.
- Partnership Development
Promote Community Building
- Promotes positive resident/community involvement.
- Supports resident association activities and leadership development.
- Support resident initiatives through provision of technical and resource support.
- Develop collaborative relationships to support Advantage Center Operations.
Program Administration
- Prepares or assists with service agreements.
- Prepares or assists with quarterly/annual summary reports to owner/affiliate boards.
- Monitors service provider agreements and reports to owner/affiliate boards.
- Prepares monthly benchmark reports.
- Prepares other reports as requested.
Promote positive relationships within the housing community and surrounding neighborhood
- Work closely with housing management staff to develop and maintain safe housing and to promote resident self-sufficiency
- Effectively represent CommonBond Communities, and the housing communities in the surrounding neighborhood and relevant service networks
Team Participation
- Work collaboratively with the site Advantage Services team.
- Participate collaboratively in Advantage Services staff meetings and training.
- Meet regularly and work as team members with Property Management.
- Maintain productive relationships with owner/affiliate boards and community partners.
- Participate in corporate projects and complete other assignments as requested.
- Participate in ongoing interactions with Resource Development team on volunteer recruitment and placement and fundraising efforts.
Professional Development
- Develop professional growth plan for continued training.
- Contribute to professional growth efforts of Advantage Services team.
- Performs other duties as assigned or apparent
Minimum Requirements:
- Associate’s or bachelor’s degree in related field or at least three years of experience in a related field.
- Two years of experience providing individual services to a diverse population of individuals and families.
- Knowledge of community resources and service networks.
- Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
- Demonstrated experience working within diverse communities, which include people of various ages, gender, sexual orientations, national origins, income levels, ability levels, religious affiliations, races, and languages.
- Ability to work well in a collaborative team environment with both internal and external partners.
- Ability to network and develop community partnerships.
- Experience utilizing MS Office and web based programs.
- Be Certified in CPR and First Aid or have the ability to become certified within six months of starting position.
- Two years experience in youth program development and management.
