- (4) Teachers for Child Development & Literacy Center - The Spadoni College of Education at Coastal Carolina University seeks to hire four (4) teachers for a: (a) three-year-old classroom, (b) four-year-old classroom, (c) multi-age (3-5) classroom and (d) kindergarten (5 year old) classroom.
Teachers are responsible for carrying out the goals of the center. This includes working collaboratively with the director to develop and implement curriculum, build relationships with children, parents and colleagues. Our teachers maintain a healthy, safe and positive learning environment for each individual child and ensure compliance with local, state, and NAEYC standards.
Duties include but are not limited to: developing and delivering a curriculum founded on the center's philosophy as well as following childcare regulations and NAEYC and South Carolina Early Learning standards; creating positive learning environments including resources based on child-directed learning; developing strategies to guide positive children's behavior; building good, open communication with children, families and staff; observing and recording children's growth, development and behavior using electronic portfolios; ensuring the learning environment is clean, hygienic and safe; helping develop teaching goals for the center and its teachers; undertaking administrative tasks as required and performing other duties as assigned.
Qualifications: An earned bachelor's degree in early childhood education or child development and a minimum of 2 years teaching experience with children between the ages of 3 to 5 are required. M.Ed. in early childhood, child development, or early literacy development preferred. A successful candidate must have knowledge and understanding of child development; excellent oral, written and IT communication skills; excellent inter-personal skills, including a willingness to accept positive criticism; high levels of commitment to high standards, motivation, energy and enthusiasm; and excellent organizational skills with the ability to prioritize and meet deadlines. A successful candidate must possess potential for leadership in program planning or in professional organizations.
