CITY CLERK
The City of Greenville, NC is seeking an experienced and progressive individual to be its next City Clerk. Current City Clerk is retiring in September 2019.
Reporting to the Mayor and City Council, the City Clerk plans, organizes, and directs the activities and operations of the City Clerk’s Office.
Requirements include: bachelor’s degree in public administration or related field, supplemented with advanced courses and seminars from the School of Government related to City Clerk functions and five years of progressively responsible administrative experience in municipal government, including supervisory experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Certified Municipal Clerk (CMC) designation desirable or must obtain CMC designation within two years. Certification as a N.C. Notary Public required at hire.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Considerable knowledge of the City Charter, governing ordinances, structure and organization of the City; considerable knowledge of the principles and practices of public administration, municipal government, personnel management and supervision; good knowledge of English, composition, and report writing; good knowledge of office management methods, procedures, and computerized equipment and programs pertinent to the City Clerk's Office; ability to interpret North Carolina General Statutes as they relate to the City Clerk's functions; ability to effectively maintain public records and documents; ability to prioritize tasks to ensure that deadlines are met; ability to supervise the work of others through planning, organizing, instructing, motivating, and objectively evaluating performance; ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, with diverse audiences; and ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with City officials, employees, and the general public.
Must be available to work regularly scheduled and special night meetings.
Hiring salary range: $60,000-$75,000, DOQ.
