Plant Controller
SUMMARY:
The Plant Controller has responsibility to establish, monitor and manage the financial responsibilities within an assigned business. This role includes leading financial staff with the responsibility for all accounting functions within the plant, which includes, but is not limited to; monitoring accounts payable, accounts receivable, general accounting, cost accounting, bill of materials, business analysis, financial reporting, sales analysis, budgeting and forecasting. This role will also oversee the application and management of the company’s ERP system as it relates to the assigned business. The Plant Controller will work closely with the business General Manger. All Plant Controllers are responsible for interfacing and collaborating with corporate accounting and finance staff.
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES (Other Duties May be Assigned):
Accounting & Financial:
- Prepare and report monthly financial results, forecasts, annual operating plan and strategic planning in accordance to company guidelines; reconcile accounts as required.
- Ensure the timely and accurate input of bill of materials and costing, perform audits to ensure product costs are accurate and accounted for properly.
- Perform walkthroughs of the plant with the management team to discuss production and costing issues; attend production meetings to support financial initiatives.
- Review and manage assigned labor reporting, capital spending, material costs, manufacturing overhead, distribution cost, returns and inventory levels for accuracy.
- Work with assigned management teams to improve core manufacturing systems including inventory, labor reporting and tracking, overtime tracking, scrap reporting, and shipping.
- Assure adherence to Generally Accepted Accounting Principles. Resolve questions of GAAP and internal controls with corporate financial management.
- In collaboration with the assigned management team, manage, support, strengthen and analyze internal controls to ensure assets are adequately safeguarded and results are accurately reported; collaborate with the team to support and strengthen controls
- Oversee the management of all accounts receivable and accounts payable of the business
- Manage and ensure accuracy of the physical inventory and reported results, investigate inventory adjustments
- Identify, propose and implement cost savings programs, vendor negotiations, etc.
- Analyze potential excess and obsolete inventory items monthly.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Is responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of direct reports. Carries out managerial responsibilities in accordance with the company’s policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring and training employees; planning, assigning and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and correcting employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

EDUCATION & QUALIFICATIONS:
- B.S. in Accounting or Business Administration or related degree program is required.
- 5-10 years as a plant controller or cost manager in a manufacturing environment, managing a staff, with an emphasis on cost accounting, reporting and variance analysis.
- Strong computer skills in Microsoft suite (Excel-Pivot Tables), ERP systems and QuickBooks
